Nonprofit Membership

The Society Guide is membership-based program that works to connect local nonprofits with Charlotte’s high net worth donors and their advisors.

The flagship benefit of membership is inclusion in our annual Giving Book - a handsomely designed, coffee table style catalog of nonprofits, showcasing their impact in the community with artistic photography and compelling narratives. Books are printed annually and delivered each November to an intentionally selected list of high net worth and philanthropic families, wealth advisors, and estate planning professionals.

Additional benefits include (based on membership level):

  • Event and organization promotion on our site and social media channels throughout the year

  • Grant writing support

  • “Take Overs” of our social media pages.

  • Features in our monthly e-newsletters sent to subscribers, donors, and community leaders

“Earlier this week I had the pleasure of meeting with a donor who read about Philips Academy in the Giving Book. He was very moved by meeting the students. He did not know about Philips Academy until seeing us in the Giving Book. He is making a gift to our scholarship fund for this upcoming school year and plans on making a gift to the scholarship endowment for a more lasting impact. He really cares about these kids and families.”
— Deborah Hofland, Philips Academy
“I took your Giving Book on my flights this past weekend and enjoyed learning about local nonprofits. Since my husband and I just moved to Charlotte from San Francisco, this book was timely for us to get to know some of the organizations in need.”
— recipient, Rebecca Watson
“Purple Heart Homes has had several donors mention that they saw our organization in the Giving Book and liked what they learned which made them decide to give to our organization.”
— Melanie Balouse, Purple Heart Homes
“There isn’t enough hours in our day to find out what charities are out there making an impact in our community and The Society Guide has been very helpful in providing us a resource to our clients in our meetings where we’re discussing charitable giving.”
— David Miller, Managing Partner, Auctus Advisors LLC
“The Giving Book is a window into a world about which I was ill informed. I knew there was wonderful philanthropy going on in our area but certainly didn’t know the specifics. The Giving Book taught me a lot about the gifts that are adding to the quality of our community. Thank you so much!”
— recipient, Pam Stowe
I love the hard copy book, and when you combine that with the inspiring social media posts, giving to a group of curated non-profits is always in my thoughts and couldn’t be easier. I have given several times after reading a social media post highlighting the real-time work of a organization highlighted in the Giving Book.

“Being included this year has helped raise our organization’s profile, is a source of pride, has armed our board and ambassadors with talking points, and is a point of reference for community members and potential donors who are not familiar with our org or mission.”
— Natalie Allen, The Arts Empowerment Project
